The project presented for the competition aims to redevelop the Piazza d’Armi area through three strategies: urban/traffic planning, environmental/social sustainability, and functionality. The goal is to create innovative architecture that extends beyond the neighborhood’s boundaries, serving as an attractive hub for the city. The building’s design, inspired by Ancona’s architectural features, includes large arches and sustainable materials, enhancing urban resilience and environmental comfort. The architecture is designed to promote social integration and safety in a multi-ethnic neighborhood, with flexible and modular indoor/outdoor spaces. The project blends harmoniously into the urban fabric, creating a balance between public and private spaces. Two distinct squares are planned: one with a commercial focus and the other one for the market, both enriched with typical elements of Ancona’s historical landscape, such as arches and brickwork, reinterpreted in a contemporary way.
