The project for the redevelopment of the square stems from the desire to make Largo Petrarca a focal point for the Don Bosco neighborhood. The genesis of the project coincides with the rationalization of the central island, which is transformed into a thick green heart, carved out by a square plaza made of light and natural materials that welcomes and opens up to the neighborhood. The central area reconfigures the spatial layout of the square, modernizing its use through the inclusion of two terraced steps and a gravel square open towards the local council, creating spaces for cultural exchange and community interaction. The green wings and trees protect the central area dedicated to the community, shielding residents from the heat and darkness of the asphalt.
